I am organizing coderdojo event on 6th Jan 18. But I need some mentors who will be available online with us.
I have gather some good local mentors but need some international so that we can connect make a better event.
Can anyone connect with me some good mentors?
That is very exciting to hear. Have you also checked out our resources here or here?
What exactly are you looking for with regards to international mentors?
Is there a particular skill or programming language that local mentors would be less confident in and would like some assistance with?
Are you hoping to skype them in to assist? Or more to connect Dojos around the world and say hello to each other?
I would love to connect with other Dojos who can share their stories so that our local community get to know the importance of this global movement. It would be great someone from Dublin as I am traveling to Dublin to this month so that I can also attend their session their to learn how they are running sessions
Even anyone one can share recorded message to our local community that would also be perfect.
@Muhammad-Shakeeb-Khan That would be great. We here at the Foundation are based in Dublin and would love to hear about how you are getting on. We run a Dojo in our office here as well which you can attend if the dates suit. When will you be in Dublin?
I will be between 10 Jan - 17 Jan. Lets see which event I can attend
@Muhammad-Shakeeb-Khan Amazing, we are running our first Dojo of 2018 on the 10th in our office here in Dublin. I also know a few others nearby that run on Wednesdays too. If you search for the areas you are interested in visiting in Dublin on zen.coderdojo.com you can see the times and days they are running on
Great, can you advice me some guidelines how to start event with.
As it will be for the first time that I will teach code approx 20+ kids.
Do I need to start design some curriculum or give children freedom whatever they want and assign one mentor to guide them? How normally you guys defined agenda for the event
Can you guide
@Nuala-McHale just to update you I will be in Ireland between 15-19 Jan. Would love to meet you guys at your office.
Sorry for the delay @Muhammad-Shakeeb-Khan with CoderDojo there is no set curriculum. For starting out you can try some warm up games see the ice-breakers here, and try out some of our new idea generation resources to help get them thinking about projects You can then show them a selection of projects that other young people involved in CoderDojo have created (such as those at Coolest Projects last June).
You can also check out our resources here which have a variety of paths you can follow, so that young people can lead their own learning.
Do they want to build a website? Or try out Scratch? Make an app for their android phone?
That is great to hear. We are running our Dojo here in our office tonight, but we would be happy to meet you here and hear how you are getting on
Looks like your connection to CoderDojo Forum was lost, please wait while we try to reconnect.
