Want to show parents how to:
on the CoderDojo Community Platform with a print out at your Dojo?
Nuala that's a great guide thanks. We run a bilingual Dojo with most kids being Spanish but fluent in English so I would love to have the guide in a non pdf version so I can translate it into Spanish. Would this be possible? Thanks
@Andrea-McGuire hmm, would just the text in a separate word document suit? Or what type of format had you in mind? If you could translate the text into Spanish, I could do up a Spanish version of the pdf.
I was going to suggest sending it to me in word and then I would leave the screen grabs as are and translate the text into Spanish but also leave it in English. Although most Spanish parents use Coderdojo.com in Spanish but they will get the gist! Then I can send it back to you as a pdf to publish for general use.
@Andrea-McGuire Hi Andrea, here is the text
thanks. will tackle it later on and let you know when i have it done
@Andrea-McGuire Sounds great, Thanks very much for translating it!
Hi @Andrea-McGuire how have you been getting on with the translations?
Also if you haven't heard, we are running the Future Makers Awards which 10-17 year olds can apply in Spanish to. Some young people at your Dojo may be interested in entering.
Here is the Spanish Version of the PDF Guide for Parents (Guía para padres):
You can find the two PDFs on our resources site here.
@Nuala-Nic-Éil I have translated the document in Greek.Booking-into-a-Dojo-text_el-GR.docx
@Iraklis-Markelis That is awesome! Thank you very much for taking the time to translate it! What a lovely surprise! i will get it up on Kata as a pdf tomorrow hopefully so it can be shared like the other two
@Nuala-Nic-Éil It was my pleasure! Thank you too.
@Iraklis-Markelis Hello, I've updated the kata page now to include the Greek version, which you can see here. The Greek version as a PDF is available here!
@Nuala-Nic-Éil Thanks to @Guillaume-Feliciano we now have the pdf Guide for parents & Guardians translated into French. Meaning it is now available in four languages; Greek, English, French & Spanish.
Thanks to @Andrea-McGuire @Iraklis-Markelis and @Guillaume-Feliciano for giving their time to translate the guides.
Hello @Nuala-Nic-Éil , I made the Italian translation of the Guide.
I don't have editor rights on the Kata page... can you please update it?
You can download it from https://www.dropbox.com/s/cq9i3oz3cljgr2t/Iscriversi_ad_un_evento_CoderDojo.pdf?dl=0
@Fabrizio-Sala Hi Fabrizio, that is great!
Of course, I have now added it to the page containing the guide in the other four languages here.
Thanks again for your help. Would be interested in helping translate our newsletters or lessons/content for Dojos in Italian?
It would be really great to be able to provide more of our resources in Italian for the community
@Nuala-Nic-Éil thanks (also for the speed!).
Yes, Italian community really needs more resources... also because a lot of items that were available are now missing or obsolete.
Me and other mentors at CoderDojo Como, w are already translating some lessons/sushi cards (and also preparing new original contents).
We'll for sure publish it to the community when completed.
Some days ago, I also completed up to 100% the translated sentences in the Italian translation of Zen.Coderdojo.com on CrowdIn platform.
I'm waiting for someone with the rights to proof-read it, so they'll go live.
The Zen portal is quite hard to use for non-english people (and, sadly, in Italy we still have a lot of them... ) and it's not easy for us to let users to go there and register for events.
I don't know the frequency of newsletters, but I think I can find some time to help on it...
@Fabrizio-Sala That is great. Thank you very much for your support. That is great to hear. @Philip-Harney is in charge of our crowdin. I mentioned what you said to him and he's looking over the translations now.
Regarding the newsletters, would the email linked to your forum account be the best way to contact you? I am hoping to build up a group of translators so that I am only contacting an individual volunteer once every two/three months. Does this sound suitable to you?
@Nuala-Nic-Éil timing is relaxed enough, so it's ok also for me.
Creating a pool of translators is a good idea... in the meanwhile, don't worry to ask, if you need more help! Have a nice time
Looks like your connection to CoderDojo Forum was lost, please wait while we try to reconnect.
